London South Bank University has been transforming lives, communities and businesses for\u202fover 120 years and is an ideal location for the E&PDE\u202f22 conference. Located near the Elephant and Castle the university is within easy reach of London Bridge, Waterloo, the Southbank Centre and central London. Students on the various design and engineering courses regularly win national and international awards and recent examples include the 2021 Mayor of London\u2019s Entrepreneur Judges\u2019 Choice Award (StreetCharge)<\/a>, the 2020 Design Innovation in Plastics Award winner (Rolloe<\/a>), The 2019 Design Museum Great Competition winner (OCCO<\/a>) and the London winner of the 2019 IMechE Design Challenge (Anima<\/a>).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CEDaCI: A Circular Economy for the Data Centre Industry<\/em><\/span> <\/span><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The data centre industry is currently linear which is unsustainable. CEDaCI is using whole systems thinking to transform all product life stages and increase resource efficiency and supply chain security, reduce waste and pollution and ensure uninterrupted and economic data centre services.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Insects au Gratin, MUDAM Luxembourg taster event. Could eating insects be an alternative to traditional protein consumption? <\/span><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Insects au Gratin looks for new ways of consuming insects and debates the nutritive and environmental aspects of insects as human food. By combining entomophagy with emerging 3D food printing technologies, Insects au gratin encourages people to consider more sustainable ways of eating.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WOMEN IN ENGINEERING<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

LSBU has always been visionary and in 1920 it was one of the first higher education institutions in the world to accept female students so in 2020-21 we celebrated\u202fthe centenary of women being admitted to engineering courses in the UK. 2022 is also a very special year for Engineering Product Design because the first cohort of EPD students graduated in 1982 so we will be celebrating 40 years of innovation and success for this course and 25 years of innovation and success for the Product Design course. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
